This telephone has been stripped down and rebuilt after each part has been cleaned and polished. It has been fitted with a genuine GPO handset cord off the 1950s roll and re terminated, an electronic microphone and a "D" shaped best quality plastic line in cord with a UK telephone socket made by me. As you can see it is a wonderful example. The bell set is a genuine Bakelite GPO No26 and has a rare GPO crested drawer only made in 1937. As this phone came with it fitted I am selling it with the telephone at no extra charge. The handset is dated 1948. The dial is a GPO No12 with an alpha numeric dial face. It has been set up using a special line simulator to make sure the dial speed and contacts are correct to allow it to work on both copper wire and cable networks. This has then been tested on our own BT land-line. If you want it to work just like a modern telephone with tone dialling then you will need a pulse to tone unit fitted although not needed if all you want to do is dial out normally. Only essential if your network wont support pulse dialling (99% do), you need to contact your bank, retrieve messages or future proof etc. I can make dial label with your information at no extra charge.
