This is a rare 400 series telephone made by PMG (post master general) in Australia. It was the next series on from the standard 300 series. This one is dated 1957 and the model was replaced by the 700 series that came out in 1959 and so this was never put into production by the GPO. As you can see it has the body of the 300 series and the handset shape of the 700 series. The main difference is the carry handle which when it is picked up extends out about an inch. It is very well made and has a lovely chrome dial and enamel number plate. It has no drawer and a curly handset cord. The internals are very similar to the 300 series and retains the double bell ring. This has been stripped down and rebuilt after each part has been cleaned and polished. I have fitted an electronic microphone to bring the speech quality up to modern standards.

As you can see this is a lovely example and will get snapped up when it goes out to the Antique shops I supply.

This is your chance for you to buy it before they do.
