This telephone is a wonderful example of a candlstick telephone from the late 1920s to early 1930s with a GPO No1A type wooden GPO wall mounted bell set. As you can see it looks fabulous and has been totally stripped down and and rebuilt after each part has been restored to the best it can be. I have replaced all the cords for the very best hand plaited cords you can buy. The bell set to telephone cord is over 4 feet in length and the quality "D" shaped plastic line in is 2.5 Meters. The telephone is unmarked and so a may have been used on a private exchange. It is fitted with a genuine GPO No10 with an alpha numeric dial face and stainless steel finger wheel. The brass parts holding the mouth piece to the body and the earpiece switch hook have been cleaned and polished but not re plated as they are good enough to leave as original ( see pictures ). This has also saved a lot of money in stripping, polishing and plating costs. As you can see they are not in perfect condition but very good. The black body and base has been refinished to perfection and the rubber on the base to protect your furniture has been replaced. It is fitted with the very best available hand plaited brown braided cords to the bell set and ear piece. Candlestick telephones are operated from electronics in the bell set. This one has had a GPO induction coil fitted and wired up correctly to allow the telephone to work properly. The bell box is a beautiful well made item. The bell set is in great condition and has been French polished and looks wonderful. The history of the bell set is marked on the back and was manufactured as a GPO No 1A 1934 and then and then converted to a No1 configuration in 2017 by me using a GPO No27 coil to provide perfect speech and receiver balance. I have fitted an electronic microphone to bring the speech quality up top modern standards. This is ready to plug in and go. I can make a dial label with your information at no extra charge.
